The Department of Nursing is a council member institution of Vocational Education Group of Modern nursing, a cooperative institution of
Qinfeng Talent Reserve Planning Strategy of Shaanxi Association of Private Medical Health Development, and a secretary-general
institution of Shaanxi Association of Anti-Aging. The department now has opened two programs, the bachelor program of nursing and the
program of higher vocational nursing, with a student population of 1700, and a faculty of 28 teachers.
The department has a faculty of dual certificates (teaching and business), high educational background, combination of the full time
and the part time, and mutual hiring of business and school, of which three faculty members have oversea academic background. The
faculty members have participated in various professional conferences, of which the paper “Exploration into the Nursized Training
Model for Nursing care Providers for the Aged” has been presented at a high-level international conference, and has excited attention
among scholars at home and abroad. During the past two years, the faculty edited six textbooks, acquired one patent, undertook nine
research and teaching reform projects, and published more than 40 research papers in referred journals. In terms of teaching, the
faculty has constructed 13 pieces of courseware as a part of the electronic resource bank, and five project teaching courses, of which
three are taught online and in flipped Classrooms.
The department has a laboratory center, which contains 15 labs, including a chemical lab, a biochemical lab, a anatomy lab, a general
morphology lab, a digitally interactive microscopic lab, a functional lab, a basic nursing training room, a health evaluation training
room, and amaternalandinfant training room.The center is assigned one director, and three laboratory technicians，carrying out
management and service for the practical teaching. In 2015, the provincial government appropriated a fund of 8000 thousand yuan
supporting further construction of the center.
The reference room contains 26093 medical and nursing books, which are categorized into 4754 types. The room contains 14 types of paper
journals，74 types of back issues, 31005 electronic Chinese books，2994 books in foreign languages，412 types of electronic journals，
containing 52307 papers.
The department has signed contracts with first-rate medical institutions at home, and is trying to construct international exchange,
cooperation and employment platforms. The department is communicating with some medical institutions in Singapore, Japan,Britain,
South Korea and the United States, and discussing about exchange projects.
In recent years, student recruitment is stable, and the average annual number of graduates is 360. Students participate in social
practice during summer vacation, and have been elected an excellent student practice group successively in two years. Quality of the
graduates has been accepted by the employers, and the rate of students who have acquired nursing qualification certificates is around
90%，and the rate of students who get a job upon their first application is 90.1%.
The department has a faculty with reasonable educational background structure, and rich teaching experience. Among the 40 full time and
part time teachers, five have senior titles，中eight have intermediate titles, and 13 have dual certificates (teaching and business).
The part time teachers are mainly nursing experts and doctors from the medical college of Xi’an Jiaotong University, the Fourth
Military Medical University and the affiliated hospitals.
Students have won one prize in the national technical contest, and have acquired one patent (an anaerobic bacteria culture device). The
rate of seniors who have passed A and B classes of English proficiency is 76%, rate of the students who have acquired nursing
qualification certificate is above 90%. Students have also undertaken one research project at provincial level, and the rate of
students with associate degrees who have been successfully admitted into a bachelor program is 15%.
IV.Employment and the prospect for the discipline
The employment fields: When acquiring a nursing certificate, students are engaged in clinical nursing and nursing management at
comprehensive hospitals, special hospitals, emergency centers, rehabilitation centers, community medical service centers, maternal and
infant care centers as well as aged care centers of all kinds and at all levels all over the country. When the society develops
further, each residential area and even each home will need a nurse, and nurses will enter home and buildings, providing community and
home care and health management. Some graduates go abroad for further study and employment.
The prospect for student employment is broad. When graduating, students can be engaged in clinical nursing at various hospitals，and
can also do clinical nursing and preventive healthcare at grassroots medical institutions, as well as community nursing and aged care.
As the global aging comes, aged care will be popular, and the healthcare nurses, community nurses, family nurses will be in great demand.
V.Rigorous and normalized measurements for management
In accordance with the six working steps proposed by president Ren, oriented to the results, and considering the actual situation of
the department, refined management goals should be formulated with all the work tasks, allocate responsibilities to each person, and
carry out step by step. In the past two years, the basic teaching management of the department was ranked high all the time in the
university, the rates of associate degree graduates admitted by bachelor programs and the passing of English A and B class examinations
are all the highest. When the university put forward theImplementation Plan for Refined Management of Xijing University,we further
explore how to use scientific and appropriate management means and methods, implement “refinement, accuracy, delicacy, rigorousness”
in every detail of the management，and carry through the following measurements：

responsibilities be individualized, timeline of task completion be accurate day by day, the basis for quantitative evaluation should be

Management be institutionalized, the department has stipulated all kinds of rules and regulations to normalize the management, make all
tasks be done according to the regulations, and have everybody equal before the rules.
