On July 25, the 5th Mapping Skills Contest for National College Students came to an end in Shenyang, Liaoning Province. The representative team from our university won a second group award for “digital mapping”.
This contest includes three events including second-class level measurement, digital topographic map survey and draw as well as design of process of measurement. The contest aims to testing the effect of practical teaching, students’ practical ability and their grasp of basic knowledge, cultivating students’ ability in the aspects such as field data collecting and indoor data processing so as to improve their comprehensive ability to solve production practice problems. At the same time, it is beneficial to strengthening the exchange between students and teachers from different universities.
A total of 113 representative teams from 112 higher learning institutions in the country such as Tongji University, Northeastern University, Chang’an University and Xijing University participated in this contest.
