On the afternoon of December 3, the nameplate-unveiling ceremony of the Cultural and Creative Federation of Chang’an College Town and the final of the 1st Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (Originality Competition of New Media) were held in Jinghua Auditorium of Xijing University.
Cheng Rui, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Chang’an District Committee and director of publicity department of the CPC Chang’an District Committee, Feng Yinhu, director of Network and Information Office of the district, Guo Jie, vice-president of Xijing University, Wang Jun, director of the Center for College Students’ Entrepreneurship and Employment in the university, Zhang Xijing, dean of School of Communication in the same university, Wang Peitao, director of Nanyang Extra-curriculum Academy of the university as well as representatives from higher learning institutions such as Shaanxi Normal University, Xi’an University of Finance and Economics, Shaanxi Xueqian Normal University, Xi’an Peihua University, Xi’an Keda Gaoxin University as well as Zhang Lin, CEO of HIMRY E-commerce Group and Zhang Maoquan, president of the Association of Cultural and Creative Industries in Chang’an District attended this activity and unveiled the nameplate for the Cultural and Creative Federation of Higher Learning Institutions. More than 600 students from Nanyang Extra-curriculum Academy and Incubation Base for College Students’ Entrepreneurship in Xijing University participated in this activity.
According to Vice-president Guo Jie of Xijing University, the university pays high attention to innovation and entrepreneurship education and practice by actively exploring the new development pattern characterized by integration and interaction between universities, government departments, enterprises and industries. In the recent three years, remarkable progress has been made in students’ innovation and entrepreneurship ability and competition results. Prominent achievements have been made in university-government-enterprise-industry cooperation. In addition, the atmosphere of campus innovative and entrepreneurial culture has become stronger, which has had a widespread influence on society. The establishment of the Cultural and Creative Federation of Higher Learning Institutions in Chang’an College Town will further boost the work of cultural innovation and entrepreneurship between higher learning institutions and guide their development in cultural industries so as to provide support for the students of our university to conduct colorful innovative and entrepreneurial practice activities. Such support will also be given to the cultivation of more innovative application-oriented talents.
Feng Yinhu gave an introduction to the progress that has been made in the integrated development of cultural industries between the local area and universities. He said that through this innovation and entrepreneurship competition (originality competition of new media), the excellent style and wonderful expertise of the students of Xijing University were fully demonstrated. Therefore, a steady flow of professional talents have been cultivated for the development of cultural industries and the crucial link of the integrated development between universities and the local area has been forged, thus realizing the integration and connectivity between the government, universities and market entities.
At the site of activity, some member enterprises of Cultural and Creative Association of Chang’an District signed various cooperation agreements with Xijing University, hence injecting a powerful motive force into the integrated development of cultural industries between the university and the local area.
It is reported that since the beginning of the 1st Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (Originality Competition of New Media), a total of 843 entries have been collected, of which the number of the entries in the form of video is 398 and that of the entries in the form of official documents is 445. In order to ensure the openness, fairness and impartiality of the competition, HIMRY E-commerce Group invited the responsible persons of relevant enterprises and experts to act as the judges of this competition before making selection and re-selection. In addition, network voting was conducted. In the end, 28 entries were selected into the final. Two contestants won 1st prizes with RMB3000 in prize money for each. Four contestants clinched 2nd prizes with RMB2000 in prize money for each. Six contestants were awarded 3rd prizes with RMB1000 in prize money for each. Sixteen contestants were shortlisted for recognition awards with RMB500 in prize money for each.
According to Zhang Lin, through this competition, students’ understanding of the industry of new media can be deepened and their pursuit of creation and innovation can be encouraged, which is beneficial to boosting the sustainable development of new media. Efforts should be made to better strengthen the interaction between higher learning institutions and enterprises and facilitate the “seamless” alignment between market and innovative and creative industries so as to realize the win-win situation characterized by complementary advantages and resource sharing.
